Refractory Materials: Introduction and Applications

Refractory materials are key functional materials that maintain structural stability and resist thermal shock and chemical attack in high-temperature environments, widely used in high-temperature industrial production. Ceramic fiber products are the mainstream lightweight refractory category, including ceramic fiber cotton, blanket, board, paper, module, and polycrystalline mullite fiber.

These materials feature low thermal conductivity, low heat capacity, excellent thermal insulation and thermal shock resistance. Some grades can operate continuously at temperatures above 1450℃, with additional advantages of sound absorption, eco-friendliness, non-toxicity, and easy installation.

They are mainly applied in various high-temperature industrial furnaces in metallurgy, chemical engineering, ceramics, building materials, and machinery, such as heating furnaces, heat treatment furnaces, tunnel kilns, and roller kilns. They serve as furnace lining insulation, gap sealing, and direct flame-facing components, and are also used for thermal insulation of high-temperature pipelines and thermal equipment, making them essential for energy-efficient operation in modern high-temperature industries.
